I have always loved music. Ever since I was little, when I'd play drums on pots and pails for hours, or dance around the living room to Amanda Marshall until bedtime...or go and watch Family Spectrum and patiently wait until they'd finally play Wipeout. Music was a big part of my life from the beginning.
My mom and dad always supported me and whatever I wanted to play. They put my brothers (Graham and Steve) and I into piano lessons at the young age of 7. I continued that for about 4 years and developed an understanding of written music.
When I went to middle school, I learned how to play the Clarinet, and as soon as I could, I changed to Alto Sax. I continued with that up until Grade 11 where I decided that I didn't like the confines that the Band class presented. I felt that there was no room for creativity and I found it extremely frustrating and stopped taking the course.
I started to play with Legacy in grade 9, where I learned to play the guitar. I have not taken any lessons, aside from the ones I get every Monday at band practice from my Aunt Lisa and Uncle Tom, who have taught me so much. I have grown an appreciation for performing, and I get a thrill when I see people enjoying the music we make.
I hope to continue with Legacy, I hope to grow as a musician, and I hope to own a huge guitar collection when I'm an old man.
