Graham Tapley
Trumpet, Bass, Vocals
For Graham Tapley, (older brother to Brent and Steve) music has always been a big part of his life, as his mother (Angela Bunkowsky) was a member and manager of the Family Spectrum. For the first three years of his life, Graham and his brothers were taken along to every Family Spectrum show where they watched from their playpen set up by the soundboard. Finally, Graham began his own musical journey at the young age of eight, with piano lessons. He reluctantly continued with piano until he was eleven years old and had completed grade three piano. In grade six, Graham joined the school band, playing the baritone, which is like a mini tuba. In grade seven he played baritone but switched to trumpet in the concert band and also played piano in the school jazz band. In grade eight, he continued with trumpet in both concert and jazz bands. Graham continued to play trumpet with the concert and jazz bands until grade 11, when he decided to quit jazz band, but continued with concert band. In grade 10, Graham joined up with the rest of his family to play with the family band, now known as "Legacy". With them he plays trumpet, sings both lead and back-up as well as playing a little bit of bass.
Grahams's parents, along with his grandparents, great-grandmother and all of his uncles and aunties have been cheerleaders in his musical endeavors ever since he was very little. Having his aunties and uncles as his musical mentors has been a true legacy. Graham has an eclectic taste in musical genres with interests ranging from classic country music to new age rock and roll. One of his favorite bands is unquestionably the incomparable U2 and one of the artists he considers most influential would be Jimi Hendrix. Graham enjoys almost every aspect of playing in "Legacy" from practices to shows. It doesn't matter if there are 30 or 300 people in an audience because it is the music that is the reason for playing. Being able to do this with family has been a gift and Graham knows that the relationships that have been built around the music will be with him for his whole life.
Graham hopes that music will continue to be a part of his life with his brothers and with his uncles and aunties. He hopes that this gift can be passed along to the future generations of the Bunkowsky Family and that he will continue to be a part of this tradition for many years.
